Why we love a chic, simple dining room

If you're looking for design tips or decor ideas for your home, Pinterest is a great source of inspiration. At Spruce + Furn, we pin a lot of aspirational rooms so when we're working with clients, we can get a sense of what styles, colors, patterns and textures they like. Plus, from a trends perspective, its always interesting to see which pins really resonate with pinners.

One pin that we've seen "re-pinned" from our board over and over again is a very simple, Scandinavian-inspired dining room featured on Apartment Therapy.

This Nordic-inpired dining room is our most re-pinned pin on our Pinterest board.  We found it on Apartment Therapy in a post titled, "Dani's lovely Canadian Condo". Image credit: Dani

At first glance, it doesn't necessarily look like a "most re-pinned" image, but take another look and you'll see why we think people love it.

1) It's Easy to Execute

The great thing about modern minimalist design is that creating a chic, clean look doesn't require a lot of furniture, or styling.  A sleek table, a few classic chairs, a couple of prints you love and one statement-making lighting fixture is all you need. You'll probably spend more time editing what you have than finding and setting up your new pieces.

2) It's Accessible for Any Budget

A minimalist look often means less pieces to purchase overall - and therefore less pressure on your wallet. With this look in particular, you can choose to source your pieces from higher end retailers such as Design Within Reach, or go to more accessible outposts like IKEA, Dot + Bo or even Overstock.com.

3) It's On Trend

Sleek Nordic lines are trending right now, but their simplicity really never goes out if style. So whether you decide to source budget-friendly furniture or splurge on investment pieces, you can feel confident knowing that you won't need to redecorate in the near future.
